  21. 1 Why .1?
  22.  Well, we _finally_ fixed the irritating save error. Now, 
  23.  as long as you're a good user, no evil doule-quotes will
  24.  appear in your saved files. We also added a gang screen
  25.  (hint: look in the About... box), and created a link into
  26.  Easy Out 1.1 (or 1.0, but 1.1 is superior). Finally, the
  27.  options interface went up a notch.

  30. 2 Changes to the program
  31.  .1 PaperPad 2.1 brings in abilities above and beyond
  32.    Notepad's with this release.  With new features
  33.    (Undo, Search), better organization (all the options
  34.    grouped together), and better file support (up to
  35.    64k files!), this program is certainly getting there!
  36.  .2 Since creating the Help File  
  37.    Due to size vs. speed vs. abilities, we had to remove the
  38.    "replace" function mentioned in the Help file.  Also, there
  39.    is no "help!" button in the Options dialog box.

  42. 3 Files Included
  43.  The zip file "PPAD210.ZIP" should contain the following
  44.  files: PPAD.EXE, PPAD.HLP, README.TXT, REGISTER.TXT, COMMDLG.DLL,
  45.  CMDIALOG.VBX, THREED.VBX, TABPRO11.VBX and FILE_ID.DIZ.  
  46.  PPAD.EXE is the program file, PPAD.HLP is the help file, 
  47.  README.TXT is this file, REGISTER.TXT is the registration card
  48.  to send in with registration.  FILE_ID.DIZ is for WWIV BBS'.
  49.  COMMDLG.DLL, CMDIALOG.VBX, THREED.VBX, and TABPRO11.VBX all go
  50.  into making a better interface for non-text typing things.

  53. 4 File Locations
  54.  PPAD.EXE can be wherever you want it to be (in
  55.  \Windows, in Windows\SYSTEM, in \PPAD, etc.).  PPAD.HLP
  56.  can likewise be wherever you like, but the program must
  57.  know where.  COMMDLG.DLL, CMDIALOG.VBX, THREED.VBX, and
  58.  TABPRO11.VBX must be in the Windows\SYSTEM directory or 
  59.  the program will not run.  VBRUN300.DLL (not included) 
  60.  must be in the Windows\SYSTEM directory. README.TXT can 
  61.  go wherever, and so can  FILE_ID.DIZ.  We would request 
  62.  that you keep it around.  REGISTER.TXT is the registration 
  63.  file, so please see section 5.

  66. 5 PaperPad and the WIN.INI
  67.  PaperPad makes a relatively minor change to the WIN.INI:
  68.  it adds the section [XpresWare] if it doesn't already exist,
  69.  and adds an entry to that (PadPath=).  In the [XpresWare] section,
  70.  it uses the EOPATH= entry (from Easy Out). It also adds a section
  71.  entitled [PaperPad], with the entries HelpPath=, SaveDFlt?=,
  72.  TextBox=, Font=, and Size=.  Two things you should know:  all
  73.  XpresWare programs write into the section [XpresWare], and also
  74.  all XpresWare programs let the system know that it changed the
  75.  WIN.INI and what it changed.  For more complete information,
  76.  please see the file PPAD.HLP.

  79. 6 Registering
  80.  You are given one month (30 days) of try-before-you-buy.  After
  81.  that month, you have two options: register (read: purchase) PaperPad, 
  82.  or delete it from your system.  To delete PaperPad is simple: just delete
  83.  all the files listed in section 1.  To register, though, is more difficult.
  84.  You need to send $15 (plus $2 for US mail or $11 for overnight Express mail)
  85.  in the form of a check or money order, along with the filled out registration
  86.  form (REGISTER.TXT) to XpresWare, 6 Channing Place, Cambridge, MA 02138.  After
  87.  we receive your order and your form of money clears, we will send out WinFast
  88.  to you.  If you register during the summer, please expect a one-to-two week
  89.  extra period.

  92. 7 Dates and Current Times
  93.  Since things are currently changing, the newer a file is, the truer.  Example:
  94.  with the release of this program, we are no longer offering Airborne Express,
  95.  UPS, DHL, or Federal Express, but continue to offer Express Mail from the USPS.
  96.  Costs for the mail has chaged as well.
